Vivien Wood Company

A collaboration of international contemporary dancers, physical theatre actors, musicians, vocalists and writers, brought together by choreographer, creator and dancer Vivien Wood to create new, relevant and thought provoking performances.

Vivien has pursued a worldwide career as a performer, teacher and director with renowned contemporary dance-theatre artists including Michael Clark, Mark Baldwin, Antonia Franceschi of the New York City Ballet, Lloyd Newson, Theatre Zar of the Grotowski Institute and Rui Horta. She is currently performing in DV8's new show, John.

Vivien is widely respected nationally and internationally as a choreograoher, theatre maker, dancer, rehearsal director and teacher. Born in the North East of England, Vivien took up a place at the Royal Ballet School in London at the age of 11. Following an international career in contemporary dance and theatre working with some of the most ground-breaking contemporary artists, Vivien returned to the North East in 2007, and recently established her own collaborative company, directing her own work.

Her debut piece EXILE, was performed to great acclaim at Durham Cathedral and on Holy Island and was nominated in The Journal Arts Awards as Best New Performance. Vivien is currently reviving EXILE for national touring and working on a new piece, both for 2015.
