Motherland

Extraordinary stories, ordinary lives

Motherland dramatises the powerful and moving stories of women whose lives have been in some way touched by the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.  These are the women who live in our street, who drink in our local, who share our bus journey home.  With warmth, humour and candour they let us into their homes and their lives to show us the lottery of war – a snapshot of our time that is both hard-hitting and everyday.

“He was a boy. I loaned my son to them to do a job. I didn’t say you could keep him.”
