Artist bursary scheme

The Empty Space and Live Theatre are teaming up again to encourage innovative artists to explore fresh approaches to creating and using new writing in theatre. And to celebrate Live's 40th birthday we're looking to support a North East based artist or company with our biggest ever bursary.

Initially three theatre makers/companies will be shortlisted, each of which will receive a small bursary of £500 to begin development of their show. Shortlisted artists will be offered one week's rehearsal space and will present a work in progress (between 10and 30 minutes) at Live Theatre and The Empty Space's Scratch Night on 12th December 2013.

Based on audience response to these performances and a development meeting with Live Theatre and The Empty Space one of the companies will be awarded a full bursary of £2500 plus rehearsal space and producing and dramaturgical support to develop their show further for performance at Live Theatre in 2014.

The closing date for applications is 11th October 2013. For further information on how to apply click here.
